Import Transactions to Quicken or Quickbooks
Keep your financial records accurate and up to date by importing your transactions directly into Quicken or QuickBooks using WebConnect. This streamlined process eliminates manual data entry and helps you reconcile accounts efficiently.
Note: Intuit supports the current version of Quicken and QuickBooks, plus the two most recent prior versions.
With Quicken WebConnect, you can download and import your transaction history with the following steps:
- Select Format: Choose “Quicken WebConnect” from the download format options. This will download a .QFX file (e.g., filename.QFX).
- Open the File: When prompted by your browser, open the .QFX file, then click “Ok.”
- Launch Quicken: A dialog box will appear asking if you want to open Quicken—click “Yes.”
- View Transactions: Quicken will launch and automatically import your data. Your account register will open and display the new transactions.
Using an Older Version of Quicken?
If you’re using Quicken 2000 or earlier, download the QIF format instead:
- Save the Quicken QIF file to your computer.
- Open Quicken and manually import the file from within the application.
QuickBooks WebConnect lets you seamlessly download and import account data without manually uploading files. It also matches downloaded transactions to avoid duplicates. Simply follow the following steps to get started:
- Select Format: Choose “QuickBooks WebConnect” from the download format options. This will download a .QBO file (e.g., filename.QBO).
- Open the File: When prompted by your browser, open the .QBO file, then click “Ok.”
- QuickBooks Launches: A dialog will indicate that new transaction data has been received.
- Import Transactions: Click “Import new transactions now,” then click “Ok.”
- View Your Transactions
- Go to the “Items Received from Financial Institution” section.
- Click “View” to see your downloaded transactions on the “Match Transactions” page.
To Add Unmatched Transactions:
- In the “Quick Statement” section (bottom half):
- Select the transaction.
- Click “Add to Register.”
- Enter the Payee Name, if prompted.
- Choose an account from the “Account” dropdown.
- Click “Record.”
Repeat for each unmatched transaction. Once complete, your QuickBooks data will be fully updated.
